二、过去进行时：表示在过去某一时间内正在进行的动作。
构成：was / were + 现在分词（其中 was 是 am、is 的过去式，were 是 are 的过去式） e.g. I was doing my homework then . 那时，我正在做作业。
用法：1）过去进行时表现过去某一时刻正在进行的动作。
e.g. She was writing a letter when I came in .我进来时，她正在写封 信。
2）过去进行时还表示过去某阶段正在进行的动作。
e.g. They were waiting for you yesterday .他们昨天一直在等你。
过去进行时与一般过去时的区别； 过去进行时：表示正在进行的动作。
I was reading a novel last night.昨晚我在看小说。（可能还没有看完） 一般过去时：表示一个完成的动作。
I read a novel last night .昨晚我看了一本小说。（已经看完了） 三、以 when 和 while 引导的时间状语从句 1）延续性动词指动作可以延续一段时间，而不是瞬间结束。
如：work,study,drink,eat 等。
2）非延续性动词指动作极为短暂，瞬间结束。如：
start,begin,arrive,jump,go, finish,borrow,knock 等。
when 表示“当……的时候”。它后面既可跟延续性动词，又可跟非延续 Museum of Flight 航空博物馆 out of the UFO 从飞碟里出来 work down 沿着 call the police 给警察 性动词.如：Mary was having dinner when I saw her .(当我看到玛丽 的时候,她正在吃饭.) while 表示“在……的时候”、“在……期间”。while 后面必须是表示 动作或状态的延续性动词。
